Open Adoption You choose the family and stay in touch via letters, pictures, or visits. Women who want ongoing connection.

FAQ - Adoption in Summit County

  • Is it too late to choose adoption after giving birth?

    No. You can make an adoption plan after delivery, even from the hospital or after going home.

  • Will adoption cost me anything?

    Never. Adoption is 100% free for birthmothers. We can also assist with legal, medical, and pregnancy-related expenses where allowed.

  • Can I select the adoptive family?

    Yes. You’ll be able to view waiting family profiles and pick the one that feels right to you.

  • Do I have to meet the adoptive family?

    That’s your choice. Some women meet the family in advance; others choose a more private plan.

  • Will I have access to counseling after placement?

    Yes. CFK offers free counseling and annual birthmother retreats there is no time limit.

  • Can CFK help me at the hospital?

    Yes. Our staff can meet you at the hospital and assist with planning your birth experience.

  • What if I’m not ready to decide yet?

    That’s okay. You can talk to us without making a decision. We’re here to listen and support you.
