Kristen Heckman

Kristen married her husband, Steve, in 2005, and has been connected to Caring for Kids since 2011. She and Steve embarked on a beautiful journey that grew their family through both private infant adoption and adoption through foster care. They welcomed their oldest daughter in 2012, and were blessed in 2021 to finalize the adoption of her biological sister, who had been born in 2018.  Kristen has also had the privilege of providing foster care and witnessing her foster daughter’s reunification with her biological mother. These experiences deeply shaped Kristen’s passion for supporting children and families. Kristen spends her time taking her daughters to their various extra-curricular activities – moments she wouldn’t trade for anything – and says that she most cherishes time with her family. Summer is her favorite season, spending weekends at Lake Erie with extended family. In her free time, Kristen also enjoys crocheting. She is very excited to give back to Caring for Kids by contributing, participating, and serving on this board.
