You don’t have to face an unplanned pregnancy alone.  Caring for Kids offers counseling at no cost to you and will help you explore various options regarding adoption choices and/or parenting choices. We believe all birthparents deserve to be fully informed so that they can make the choice that is right for themselves and their children.  Meeting with Caring for Kids does not obligate you or pressure you to place your child for adoption; rather to help you decide what is best for you and your baby. Our meetings are confidential, and will only include the people that you invite. We can support you while you explore your options for parenting or making an adoption plan for your child.

Some of the things you may want to consider before deciding on adoption are:

• Am I placing my child for the right reasons?
• Am I placing my child without pressure from family and/or friends?
• Do I want openness in my adoptive placement?

It is important to remember that no matter how you feel right now, you have choices. You will be given time and support to make the best decision for you and your baby. It really is your choice. We’ll help you carefully consider your options and think about all that’s involved: the planning, special love, and courage it takes to make an adoption plan, and the special love, hard work and commitment it takes to parent your child.
We believe that being fully informed about your pregnancy options is very important. Many birth parents find peace of mind when they are free to look at all their options, and make a choice that they feel comfortable with.

If adoption is the right choice for you…

• You can expect ongoing support from your Caring for Kids Counselor
• You may choose the adoptive family based on what is important to you (all families are carefully screened prior to being approved as adoptive parents)
• You may select a family that will agree with your desired level of openness
• You may choose who is at the hospital and who is not
